FOR once it seems Kidderminster Harriers have something in common with Manchester United.

We both are subject to an unwelcome takeover bid.

In our case the majority of fans are opposed to the interest being shown by a consortium from Farnborough.

It is not uncommon for wealthy businessmen to desire to own a football club. This is fine in itself, but these people very rarely have an understanding of the game in general, or the supporters of the team they are looking to buy.

I believe most Harriers fans would prefer the Reynolds/Youngjohns consortium to win through. However, this result seems doubtful, given the game of brinkmanship that Lionel Newton seems to be playing.

Mr Newton has made some rather bold statements concerning the Farnborough consortium. We Harriers fans are sceptical Mr Newton, and we are watching very carefully.

Kidderminster Harriers is a unique institution. While we need to modernise and make changes we would like to remind Mr Newton that the heart and soul of the football club belongs to the supporters.

This cannot be measured in terms of wealth or how many shares you own.
