AN amended application to develop a former Evesham nursing home into sheltered housing has been backed by town councillors.
Fairwater Nursing Home on Coopers Lane will be transformed into 22 private apartments with associated facilities.
Extension work will be replaced with a building that will be two and three storeys high in some places.
Amendments to plans include an alteration to the main entrance position and enlarged common room areas.
Councillor Tony Lyon, speaking at a meeting on Monday, said: "I would recommend approval. I have watched this and I'm glad to see the entrance has moved to its former glory. I think it will be a very good job when it's finished."
Wychavon district councillors are expected to make a final decision on the matter in a few weeks.
