ROWING: Hanley Swan's world champion Anna Bailey took gold and set a new Italian Indoor Championship record.
The prolific rower beat her nearest opponent by more than 90 metres to clock seven minutes 28.9 seconds, despite suffering a recurrent bout of sciatica.
In hot Rome temperatures with no air conditioning, Bailey triumphed in the 50-plus category over 2,000m.
Old Wrecks member Bailey is coached by Evesham's Eddie Fletcher.
The Evesham Golden Mile, a one-mile race and one-minute challenge, is at the town's rowing club on July 9.
