TOM Bryant smashed more than 200 runs in a week as he passed two personal milestones.

Bryant recorded his first century for King's School, Worcester, last Saturday and first half century for Rushwick Sunday First XI 24 hours later.

The 15-year-old also added an unbeaten 53 for King's in another match to land our batsman of the week award.

Josh Kelly, aged 18, made it a double success for the College Green school by taking 6-26 for the first team to win the bowler gong.

Bryant, opening batsman for the school's under 15s, clocked his inaugural century as King's chased Hereford Cathedral School's 200 all out.

Despite scoring the bulk of the runs, King's ultimately fell 10 runs short. Yet, for Bryant, his knock vindicated his efforts and persistence.

"I have been doing a lot of work in the nets," he said. "I am pleased with how things are going. That's my first 100.

"I have had a few 70s. I was getting nervous but I was thinking about the team."

Having reached his first three-figure total, Bryant wasted little time in breaking down another barrier -- the 50-mark for his Sunday side.

A knock of 56 for Rushwick helped the team close in from 48-5 to beat Frocester by two wickets.

Bryant now hopes his weekend's achievements can provide the springboard for the future.

"That's my first 50 for Rushwick," he added. "I just want to do as well as I can and see where it takes me.

"I would like to get as high as I can. I would like to get another ton if I can and keep improving on my score."

Bryant's unbeaten 53 formed the mainstay of King's winning reply after skittling Wolverhampton Grammar for 89 last week.

Kelly's 6-26 came in a King's first team match against Hereford Cathedral School, a haul that led to Hereford being dismissed for 142.

The right-arm pacer bowled 19 overs across two spells and was delighted with the outcome.

"That's got to be one of the best for me," he said. "I bowled a lot of overs and got my reward. At the start of my second spell, I thought I could pick up a few wickets.

"I have taken seven wickets before but not a six for the firsts."

Anthony Gillgrass, first team coach, added: "We have got a number of very good players at the moment.

"Josh Kelly always gives 100 per cent. Tom Bryant has really developed in the last year and if he continues in this vein he will probably be playing in the first team by the end of the season."
