JUNIOR action at Evesham CC got off to a successful start when the Under-13s defeated Pershore by ten wickets.

Pershore reached 91-7 with Tim Smith top scoring with 30 not out, while David Waters was the leading wicket taker.

Openers Christian Pearce and Chris Ayliffe both reached the retirement score of 30 and it was left to James Martin to steer Evesham to a comfortable victory with three overs to spare.

The Under-15s made a great start to their league programme when rattling up a daunting 180-1 after 20 overs against Rushwick.

Skipper Andrew Fisher was the only wicket to fall and it was left to a virtuoso performance by 15-year-old Marcus Humpston who hit the ball to all corners of the ground to record a magnificent unbeaten 130. Dave Mullet gave solid support with 29 not out.

Rushwick lost wickets at regular intervals in rely and they were bowled out for 75. James Crenan took three wickets, while Lisa Martin and Luke Fisher bagged a brace apiece.
