THE EGGS Golf and Gambling Society played out their most important event of the season when they competed for the Bilko Brookes Shield.

The opening competition of the new season is always played in memory of the much missed Bilko Brookes, a founder member.

Perfect weather didn't seem to help the golfers at Little Lakes GC however, as tough course conditions and an unfamiliar layout led to many low Stableford scores.

Among the few golfers who did manage to get to grips with the conditions were Lee Jenkins, Stuart Summers and the fast improving Jem Finch.

Defending a title is never easy but Steve Philpotts produced another fine display, including three birdies, to see off all the opposition. Not far behind was Rodger Pullen and in third place was Dave Smith.

Nearest the pin was won by Mark Jenkins, and new captain Stacey Cole started his season in style, taking the longest drive trophy.

Ex-captain Robin Jackson took the 'good walk spoiled' trophy to complete the days prizes, all of which were donated by Malvern Stone and Infosigns.

The next event is the Tony Hunnabun at The Worcestershire on June 17, anyone wishing to play call Phil on 07834187939.
