SIXTEEN riders started the Velo Club Sevale 15-mile time trial last Thursday.

On a cold, windy evening, guest rider Rob Wood was unlucky not to beat the Castlemorton course record of 34min 37secs set by James Gilfillan in 1998.

His time of 34min 59secs was an impressive ride, over three minutes ahead of his nearest rivals, club member Brian Boswell and guest Dave Dickerson who shared second place with 38min 14secs.

Results were: R Wood 34.59, B Boswell 38.14, D Dickerson 38.14, W Davies 39.10, M Amery 39.14, C Smallman 41.53, S O'Toole 42.54, J Barnett 43.03, S Price 43.22, J Sharrock 43.35, C Bryant 43.38, R Davey 44.49, T Knight 44.57, B Tarling 45.00, L Ashworth 49.56, K O'Toole 51.19.

The next event is a 12-mile hilly time trial starting from Welland on Thursday (May 26) at 7pm.

The Velo Club Sevale also organises a regular Sunday morning club run, starting from Barnards Green bus shelter at 9am.
