BARNARDS Green Seconds entertained Kidderminster Seconds in the Worcestershire Sunday League on a warm and sunny afternoon on a pitch that would have graced the county circuit.

BARNARDS GREEN II v KIDDERMINSTER II

Kidderminster won the toss and elected to bat first and got off to a cautious start against some accurate bowling from Chris Hill and Jon Lewis. As the openers started to look set, Lewis produced a peach to bowl Barrett for 37 with the score on 54.

Under-15 Adam Price was then introduced to the attack and, after an initial flurry of fours, inspirational skipper Marek Wajzer tinkered with his field and Adam bowled an excellent spell of nine overs for just 39 runs, picking up the valuable wicket of Thomas, superbly caught by the acrobatic Hill.

At the other end, Sherliker bamboozled the batsmen with his leg spin and trapped opener Rowden lbw for 31.

Amos and Kimberlin then built a partnership, hitting anything overpitched to the boundary despite some excellent fielding on the short legside boundary by Dave Price, who bravely played despite numerous aches and injuries.

After 45 overs, Kidderminster had amassed 265 and Hill and Sherliker both picked up three wickets each.

A rather pleasant tea obviously then took its toll as the Green slumped to 23-4 off 13 overs with Webb picking up three wickets.

Hill (20) and Sherliker (36) then built a partnership taking the score to 79 before both fell in quick succession.

Skipper Wajzer was then joined by Robin Longmore and some slick running brought the added bonus of two 5's from overthrows, but both batsmen struggled to time the ball early-on in the partnership.

Longmore then cut loose and with 6 sixes and 4 fours Kidder-minster started to get a little concerned until Webb produced a perfect yorker just as the 100 partnership was reached.

Dave Bayliss failed to trouble the scorer and skipper Wajzer (31) was then bowled leaving father and son Dave and Adam Price to put together a useful last wicket partnership with Dave finishing on 25no but the Green fell short of their target by 41 runs in an entertaining encounter.

Many thanks to John Pugh Hairdresser for his continued sponsorship.

On Sunday, the Green Seconds will visit Worcester.
