THIS was a new fixture for West Malvern and their third Sunday fixture of the season.

WEST MALVERN v DALES

Dales opening attack was lively and accurate and Phil Chaundy did well to score 34 runs before mistiming a shot to be caught out. There followed a procession of home players to the pavilion with no other batsman quite able to match Chaundy's application and skill.

Using only 33 of their 40 overs allocation West Malvern posted a score of just 100 and an early adjournment looked likely.

The visiting side contributed to a more exciting game than might have expected by running out their opening bat with just three balls bowled.

The fortunes of the game waxed and waned for some time as more early wickets fell to the older partner of the opening attack who finished with figures of 4-9 off 7 overs.

Dales managed to keep their heads and hit the winning runs, having lost seven wickets, with plenty of overs to spare.
