BARNARDS Green U15s recently entertained Worcester Nomads at Newland and came away winners by 64 runs.

Batting first, Green's openers got the innings off to a good start. Phil Harris played some beautiful shots all around the wicket before getting a beauty from Chris Elsdon, which he could only edge through to keeper Brain.

Lewis Hoper then continued the onslaught, hitting a quick-fire 45 before being caught by Webb off Jack Watkins. Skipper Liam Paddock had been plodding along nicely while his partners were crashing the ball to the boundary, but he then joined the party.

He put on a first-class display of batting, belittling his tender years, to finish on 76no. He was ably supported by Max White, who cleverly gave Paddock the strike.

The Green finished on a very respectable 151.

Chris Elsdon was the pick of the bowlers, with 1 for 12 off his 4 overs. However, all credit to the Nomads' fielders who stuck to their task well.

In reply, Nomads could never get to grips with the Green bowling and were unable to pick up the boundaries required.

Jack Brain (30) and Sam Roberts (15) did their best to push the score along, but they never really threatened to challenge the Green's total. Adam Price and Simon Ball both picked up a wicket a piece and the Greens groundfielding was excellent with Chris Freeman, Andy Tighe, Caine Burge and Mat Higgs leading the way.
