VETS and pet owners are marking National Microchipping Month in June and one Droitwich practice is halving its prices for the service.
Dogs, cats and other pets can get microchipped this month for £12.50, allowing people who find stray animals to be able to trace owners.
Richard Sant of the Townsend Veterinary Practice said it was a useful way of keeping tabs on animals.
"There can be nothing more upsetting than losing your pet," he said.
"Because microchipping is a permanent means of identification that cannot be lost or removed, it is an extremely effective method of ensuring you will be reunited with your pet as quickly as possible."
Microchipping is available at the practice on the North Street Industrial Estate until Friday, June 10, and by appointment from then until the end of the month.
