A cricket bat signed by cricketer Andrew Flintoff and balls signed by Jonny Wilkinson and the Aston Villa first team are among the lots at a charity auction.

Other items being offered at the sale at Welland Village Hall on Sunday (June 5) include tea at the House of Lords and the chance to test drive a Morgan Motor Car.

Proceeds will help Henwala Jayatissa School, in Sri Lanka, which was affected by the Boxing Day tsunami. The school is twinned with the Planters Fund, founded by Sandra Pegg and Chandra de Alwis, who used to run Planters Restaurant in Malvern Wells.

It urgently needs a host of basic things including new toilets, library and sports equipment. Twinning charity Adopt Sri Lanka has reported several pupils running barefoot and stray dogs all over the campus.

In a letter to Planters Fund, the school's principal writes: "I'm very happy to hear your group is going to help my poor students."

The auction begins at 3pm. Catalogues from Danny's garage in Malvern Wells, the former Planters Restaurant between 4pm and 6pm tomorrow (Saturday) and on the day.
