BARNARDS Green's first XI entertained a select chairman's XI, made up of ex-Green players, for the first time at North End Lane on Sunday.
BARNARDS GREEN 1ST XI v CHAIRMAN'S XI
A two innings game with lunch and tea was the format for the day. Club chairman Keith Middleton won the toss and asked the first XI to open the batting.
With over 800 runs scored in 100 overs, the crowd were treated to an array of shots, some text book, some not.
As well as lunch, other highlights of the day included Zimbawean Jason Young, after a slow start, destroying the bowling of the toiling Gary Lewis, who had no answer to the devastation, despite trying all his variations.
New Zealander and current Worcester CC captain Dan McKay played in his usual fluent way whilst Steve Taylor and Dave Creese (4-55) showed their class with bat and ball.
With the scores nearly level at the end of all four innings, the game was declared a draw and both teams retired to the bar to rehydrate.
Barnards Green would like to thank all their supporters, current and ex-members and sponsors.
