A WORCESTER charity is undergoing a massive fund-raising 'drive' after being given a brand new car by a local company.

Leukaemia CARE has been presented with a new Ford Ka by Brooklyn Motors following the amazing success of the firm's 500 initiative - a challenge set by the company for its 17 Midlands dealerships, to sell 500 cars in 100 hours between Friday, May 20 and Monday, May 30.

The new Ford Ka is now being raffled off with all proceeds going to the charity.

"We are really grateful to the Brooklyn team for their efforts and it is now up to us to sell as many tickets as we can," said Louise Carlin, Leukaemia Care's events and sponsorship fund-raiser.

"We will be selling tickets in the region for £1 each. "

As he passed over the keys to the car to Louise Carlin, Brooklyn Motor's Chris MacNamara said the initiative had worked as well for Brooklyn as it had for Leukaemia CARE.

"The 500+ employees of the Brooklyn Group have all got behind this initiative and really pulled the stops out to hit what was a pretty challenging target," he said.

"It's been a tremendous success for everyone."
