WORCESTER Warriors will bulk up their backroom staff during the summer.

The Sixways side, who have Phil Richards as their fitness coach, are looking to bring in another conditioning guru.

Richards will take charge of the unit next season alongside his new coach as the Warriors aim to build on their first season in the Premiership.

"It's not really a one-man job," said Worcester's director of rugby John Brain.

"If you look at the champions Wasps, they have five conditioning coaches, and it's no surprise that they are the best conditioned outfit in the Premiership.

"Phil will take charge of the conditioning but I don't think it's realistic to look after a 32-man squad and us having two coaches really isn't stretching things. It's an important area and we need somebody else to come in."

Worcester's backroom staff will remain the same in the wake of Andy Keast's departure. Billy McGinty will continue as skills/analytical coach while Brain will look to bring in a new head coach as soon as possible.

"We are not cutting short the squad's holiday because of Andy's departure," said Brain.

"They know the situation and a management decision has been taken. I've gone on record on numerous occasions, praising Andy's contribution to the club and he has made a big impact here at Worcester.

"I think it says something about the professional game and the status of Worcester that, within 24 hours of the announcement about Andy, I have had 10 applications for the job."

Meanwhile, Brain will be looking for a couple of new signings before the season begins.

"We've brought in eight players so far," he said. "I think we're looking at another two -- a tighthead prop and a flanker.

"We are looking to sign wing Uche Oduoza on professional terms but we need to be satisfied over his fitness after an injury."
