RED-faced boys in blue got stuck in a lift in Kidderminster on Monday - and had to call the fire brigade to get them out.
The six officers - five men and one woman - were on a police operation when they got into the lift at Coniston House in Hurcott Road.
The doors jammed, however, and left them locked up while an engine with five firefighters on board went to their rescue from Kidderminster fire station.
"They were a bit embarrassed about it," a police spokesman said. "They got out and used the stairs instead."
A spokesman for the fire brigade said they got the emergency call at around 3.30pm and had managed to set the police officers free within 20 minutes.
"Lift rescues happen quite regularly for us but not usually when the police are involved," a fire brigade spokesman said. "I'm sure they'll be able to see the funny side."
