THE strawberry season has started at Clive's Fruit Farm in Upton - and this year it could last until August.
The farm has grown some strawberries in fields as normal and some in polytunnels.
"The advantage of this is that we should be able to extend the strawberry season to 8-10 weeks," explained farm shop manager Tony Hutchings.
The other advantage is that picking the fruit is no longer such a back-breaking task.
The strawberries in the polytunnels are grown around waist height and are very easy to pick, said Mr Hutchings.
Clive's strawberries were on sale for the first time last weekend in the farm shop in Upper Hook Road, Upton, and on a PYO basis.
Clive's have around five acres devoted to strawberries this year and estimate that each acre produces around five tons of the popular fruit.
