COLWALL second XI made it three league wins in a row, with what turned out to be a comfortable away victory against Swindon.
SWINDON II v COLWALL II
Captain Matt King won the toss and decided to bat first. Early wickets of Hankins, Sparks and Burgess left the visitors in trouble at 40-3 off 20 overs. McLernon dug in well and was out just as he started to fire for a well-made 47.
Ford and King had put on 60 for the sixth wicket until King was run out at the non-striker's end for 22. Ford then departed for a run a ball 72 and the Colwall innings quickly fell away to 189 all out.
Colwall started well with King and Ford getting rid of the openers early. A 60-run third wicket partnership threatened to take the game away from Colwall until Dickinson (23) was well stumped by McLernon off Ford and then Berry removed the dangerous Spencer (40).
The game was in the balance but wickets fell at regular intervals and Swindon ended all out 159. Ford (4-48) and Berry (3-32) were the pick of the bowlers.
Colwall, currently second in the table, entertain Dumbleton tomorrow (Saturday).
