WORCESTER City Council has certainly devised some brilliant ideas for the renaissance of our city, working inwards from the boundaries and building on brown sites so there is no expanding of the city.
It is also to include a £1m masterplan to improve riverside walks and parks and no doubt, better facilities for boating. So, where was our new Mayor, Aubrey Tarbuck when all this was being decided?
His ideas for a better Worcester are to build the Western Orbital by-pass with a new bridge at Hawford and expand the boundaries. Does he really want the beautiful Severn Valley, which people come from far and wide to enjoy and relax in, to be built over, which it would be if he had his way, with factories and warehouses and ever more traffic and pollution?
John Phillpott wrote a great column against the Mayor's proposals which I hope he will continue to do. One wonders what further outlandish plans the Mayor will come up with - luxury homes on the Malvern Hills, like Bel Air in the USA, perhaps?
