Bromsgrove 245-10 Dorridge 186-9
Bromsgrove obtain a winning draw
Bromsgrove came agonisingly close to gabbing a much-needed victory in the Birmingham and District League Division on Saturday. LOOKING TO THE FUTURE: Nick Husbands (left), Dennis Duffy, Stuart Lampitt and Paul Husbands (right) pose with Bromsgrove CC's new clubmark award.
Late wickets by Phil Barnes and Nick Husbands had disrupted a spirited Dorridge fight back and put their side within sight of victory in Warwickshire.
However, despite Husbands taking a wicket in the final over, he could not remove Dorridge's final batsmen and they held on for a share of the points.
Bromsgrove went into the match needing a win after they had slipped into the bottom half of the table.
Captain Nick Davies lost the toss and Bromsgrove were put into bat.
However, the captain (21) and Nick Edwards (27) started strongly. Once they were dismissed Bromsgrove suffered a collapse, with Julian Court and Phil Barnes both out for ducks.
Nick Reade (54) stopped the rot and forged a 62 run partnership alongside Mark Evenson (47).
Reade, who was suffering from a back injury, was caught by Bird off Hafeez.
Wicketkeeper Phil Hamilton, making a return to the first team after a three year stint in the seconds, then hit 42 as Bromsgrove handed Dorridge a testing target of 246 for victory.
Nick Husbands (4-54) carried the fight with the ball to Dorridge, dismissing Linfield (8), Hokin (0) and White (5) cheaply. Bromsgrove's progression was stifled by Hafeez's 43, but Edwards caught him off Kish Patel's (3-32) delivery.
A 70 run partnership between Pearson and Mohammed had put the Boars on the back foot and stifled any chances of a win.
Barnes though dismissed Mohammed (50) and Wing (0), as victory looked in Bromsgrove's grasp.
Husbands needed to remove the last two wickets in the final over, but while he bowled Davies (0), Bird (0) survived.
l Bromsgrove were officially handed their clubmark award last week by Worcestershire Cricket Board's Stuart Lampitt last week.
The clubmark means Bromsgrove have obtained the England and Wales Cricket Board's national standards for taking care of children while they are coached at St Godwalds.
