Although it is good to hear of a new proposed 21st century combined Meadows First/Parkside Middle school, the site for the building is unsatisfactory.
If I were a prospective parent I would be very concerned with the close proximity of the public footpath to the school building. The need for children to cross the path to gain use of the school playing fields puts the children at risk within their own school environment. Under health and safety regulations, this risk should have been excluded from the design.
The new entrance would be on an extremely busy road, a 90 degree bend and between two road junctions. The greatly increased parking of parents in the surrounding area would make access and exit from the school dangerous.
The positioning of the new school building in location to the public footpath, and the new school entrance needs much further thought and consideration.
