After the very busy run-up to Christmas and the huge success of the Christmas concert in December at the Rocklands social club, the early part of the year is always a relatively quiet period for the choir.
The AGM was held recently and the choir was able to look back at a very satisfactory 2004. In fact, the figures for the five years since the choir was formed showed that the choir has raised more than £11,000 for the Primrose Hospice and Cancer Help Centre, to which the choir's profits are donated.
The choir suffered a sad loss in January with the sudden death of John Hart. John was a founder member of the choir and treasurer from the beginning, as well as a popular soloist. He is very much missed.
The next public appearance for the choir is the summertime concert on Thursday, June 23. This year's concert is again taking place in Redditch town hall, which was a very attractive venue last year. The choir's public concerts are always a sell-out so early booking is recommended. Tickets cost £8 to include a ploughman's supper with catering again provided by Coconut Island. They are available from any member of the choir or on 01527 67383, 01527 546158 or in Bromsgrove on 01527 578161.
Apart from the choir's three public concerts, they will perform at any private function. With a wide repertoire they can provide entertainment for club meetings or celebrations or even add a special dimension to the solemnity of funerals. To book the choir contact the musical director on 01527 546158. She is also always pleased to hear from anyone interested in joining Primrose Choir.
