THE caring chairman of Bromsgrove District Council is donning her shades to publicise the work of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
Councillor Jill Dyer is appealing to residents to join her in supporting the charity's national Shades Day next Tuesday by wearing sunglasses and making a donation to the charity while raising awareness of eye health.
"It is very important that we look after our eyes, especially when the sun shines," she said. "We are all aware of the sun's harmful effects on our skin, but the effects on our eyes are less well known. It is vital that we all realise the importance of eye care."
To learn more about the work of the association Jill met guide dog owner Paula Dufour and her canine companion, Riley, a five-year-old golden retriever Labrador cross.
