A FORMER Bromsgrove woman is jetting across the Atlantic Ocean to attend a school reunion in the town.
Melanie Nash, nee Emms, is flying from her home in Hudson, New Hampshire, for the gathering of ex-North Bromsgrove High School students who left in 1985. Now more former pupils are needed to join the reunion, which is being held on Saturday, July 2, in the beer garden at the Golden Cross Hotel, in High Street, from 7pm.
"It would be really nice if we could get more people as it seems a shame we cannot do more for the twentieth anniversary," said Melanie.
"I am coming home for the reunion as it is very meaningful. Originally we planned it as a big event with us hiring a hall, but due to the response we are now having it at the pub."
Melanie first went over to America in 1996 for a couple of years' working and travelling. Then she moved back to Bromsgrove in 1998, but by May 2001 she wanted to travel again. She went back to America to see friends and there met her husband, Peter.
She found out about the reunion when she was contacted by former school friends Laura Morris, Vicki Hansel and Rachel Colly through the Friends Reunited website.
Melanie added: "I find it very nice over here and the people never get tired of my English accent, but I am so looking forward to coming back and meeting people I last saw twenty years ago."
