REDDITCH Urban Council was pressing the Ministry of Housing and Local Government for an increase in its annual building quota of 100 houses.
It stated the town had a strong possibility in assisting the Birmingham over-spill as one of the main reasons for requiring a larger building quota.
Council clerk Mr W Irving Watkins said he had written to the ministry on June 4 but had so far not received a reply.
He said the county council had asked Redditch to provide 100 houses a year for five years in addition to their normal building programme. They have also been asked them to build nine old people's bungalows.
'It has now been accepted that this is not a sufficient number,' he said.
