ALCESTER Library's major redevelopment project has been held up because county councillors have not yet given it their seal of approval.
The library should have closed more than two weeks ago for the three month re-fit, but the day before the proposed closure officers announced that 'due to unforeseen circumstances' it had to be postponed.
Staff had to re-arrange contingency plans which had been put in place, including setting up a temporary library at Church House in Butter Street and arranging an extra day's opening at Bidford library, at a moment's notice.
Last week the officers admitted that the unforeseen circumstances included the fact that Warwickshire County Council's cabinet had not approved the scheme, although it is expected to go ahead.
