THE strongest candidate for the Year 5/6 girls football tournament at this weekend's Gloucestershire Youth Games doesn't come from a school of 450 plus pupils and isn't from Cheltenham or Gloucester.
Gretton School is representing the Tewkesbury district and, according to coach Matt Fletcher, have a "strong chance."
Mr Fletcher, one of six teachers in the school of 76 children, has recently moved from Leckhampton Primary and thinks the size of the school will work to the team's benefit.
The Gretton team, who qualified for the Games via the Cleeve Colts tournament, boast several players used to playing together with Alice Price, Laura Andrews and twins Clare and Kathryn Dudfeld playing for Cleeve Colts.
The team has taken to the training extremely keenly and have been led through their three-week programme by Gloucestershire Sports Partnership community coach Sally Stewart who has a high opinion of the team's chances on Saturday.
