A WOMAN who set fire to her flat, endangering the lives of those living below, after a row with her partner is to be examined by a psychiatrist.
Dawn Herdman, 34, of St Faith's Road, Alcester, appeared at Warwick Crown Court for a preliminary hearing after being charged with arson and being reckless of whether lives were endangered.
Prosecutor Sarah Pedley said on May 1 Herdman set fire to items in the first floor flat she shares with her partner, after an argument.
The flat below was occupied and Herdman had originally been charged with the more serious offence of arson with intent to endanger life, but the allegation was dropped.
Miss Pedley added Herdman, who has a previous conviction for arson, has indicated she will admit the charge when it is put to her at a plea and case management hearing.
The Judge adjourned for psychiatric and pre-sentence reports before the next hearing, and remanded her in custody.
