THE scheduled speaker could not make the May meeting of the Women's Section so at short notice, Joyce Beckett gave a talk and reading about the life of Joyce Grenville.
The entertainer was born in London but spent a large part of her life in America.
The theatre and monologues were what Joyce was mainly remembered for. She was related to Lady Astor and was noted for being head-strong and self-willed.
Thanks were given to Audrey Rose for planning the day out to Worcester and Bridgio restaurant.
VE/VJ celebration plans for June 18 are progressing.
Next month's programme will be an auction taken by some of the members, the same ones who did such an excellent job last year.
Goods members wish to bring for auction can be brought on Wednesday, June 15, at 7.30pm.
