ROYAL BRITISH LEGION: The June meeting of the women's section was opened by chairman Wendy Griffiths.
A report was given on the recent carnival when more than £400 was raised from two stalls organised by members.
The speaker for the evening was Rosemary Morris, who gave an illustrated talk on wildlife.
Six members attended the arboretum at Alrewas, Staffs, where a memorial garden was opened by The Princess Royal.
The men's section with the help of the women's section, is holding a summer barbecue on July 2 at 6.30pm. Cost is £5 per person. Contact Roger Groom on 01386 553643 before June 25 to confirm attendance.
LADIES' GUILD: The speaker at the June meeting was Mrs P Appleby, who gave an illustrated talk on Tall Ships Sailing Adventures. Mrs Appleby is a member of the Jubilee Trust which arranges holidays for disabled people on board Tall Ships. A vote of thanks was given by Mrs Lockhart.
Mrs Ludlow was welcomed back to guild meetings following her recent fall.
Members agreed a letter should be sent to Wychavon District Council protesting at the recent decision to charge for garden rubbish bags etc, especially with regard to the extra expense and difficulties of handling for the elderly and disabled.
Members were reminded of the summer lunch to be held on June 23 at the Fruiterer's Arms, 12 for 12.30pm when the entertainment will be provided by the Guilded Lilies.
For the outing to Witley Court on July 14 the transport will be the community minibus.
A coffee morning on August 3 will be hosted by Mrs Passmore at her home in Worcester. This will be in aid of the charity and entry is £1.50.
The skittles team beat the Pershore WI team and a return match will be held in July.
Mrs Loach reported on the meeting of the Literary Appreciation Group when they discussed the book Northern Lights by Philip Pullman.
The sales table raised £19.
The next meeting will be held on July 5 in Wulstan Hall at 2pm, when Andy Holding will give a talk on Birmingham International Airport. The sales table will be home baking.
