TAEKWONDO
MORE than 400 people attended the ITS. British Taekwondo Champion-ships hosted by John Swift and his team of instructors at Kidderminster's Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre.
Competitors arrived from all over Britain so Kidderminster club instructors and students were delighted with the large percentage of the awards being won by local students.
Swift said: "It is good to be able to host such a large event in Kidderminster as it enables all students and members of the community to get involved and obviously allow local practitioners to compete at a national level."
He was pleased with the local support with all attending students, friends and their families enjoying the event and is looking forward to sending more students to the national championships at the end of the year.
Local club successes were:
First patterns: Jay Parker, Alex Chance, Andrew Homer, Susan Kennedy, Matthew Davis, Val Wilkinson, Sarah Bunning.
Second patterns: Dale Parker, Carly Goodyear, Erika Goodyear, Sasha Bowett, Jedd Bowett, Dirk Baynham, Kai Wilson.
First sparring: Danielle Whitehouse, Wilkinson, Shane Taylor.
Second sparring: J Bowett, Lucy Roberts, Rochelle Mills, Bunning, Wilson.
