PERSHORE people are urged to have their say on plans for a skatepark, which have now been submitted to Wychavon District Council for approval.
It is hoped that residents will make their feelings known about the proposal before it is considered by the council's planning committee.
The skatepark, which will be built on the Abbey Park near the existing play area and the water play area currently under construction, has a price tag of about £80,000.
It will be made of non-rumble, vandal-proof concrete and feature a half pipe and a street course, which will include a quarter pipe, a ramp, a grind rail and a fun box.
The facility will be fenced, surrounded by shrubbery and, in accordance with guidelines, more than 75 metres from the nearest house.
Jem Teal, the council's community develop manager, said he hoped the planning process would provide ample opportunity for the public to have their say on the plans.
"We have already done our own consultation around the town and had a favourable response to the plans.
"The planning process will enable a fair and open debate on whether Pershore does need a skatepark."
Matt Witts, the chairman of Pershore Skate Club, welcomed the news.
"It has taken a long time to get to this stage - and I feel that if it fails now it will be a failure for the whole community. I do think the majority of the town is for it."
