A GIRL from Pershore has been chosen as one of only 25 in the country to join the National Children's Bureau.

Olivia Adams, aged 10, will represent children, aged eight to 18, at meetings all over England, about what matters to young people in the UK.

The Abbey Park First School pupil admitted she was very excited just to be involved but to win felt fantastic.

She said: "I was a bit nervous about the interview but I think I did well and enjoyed it.

" I was so happy and to be chosen above so many others. It felt great. My mum and my friends said they were very proud of me and I am looking forward to representing children across the country."

Olivia has already been on a trip to London for a conference and has to go to Manchester in September where she will meet children from other regions and talk to politicians.

The school was notified of the opportunity by Charlotte Saunders of Number 8, in Pershore and with Olivia already on the school council she was an ideal candidate for the positions.

She already knows what she wants to do in the future, to become a civil servant working for the DfES, but depending on how her work with the bureau goes, a career in politics could be in the offing.
