Margaret Lampard, a former owner of Malvern's Warwick House department store, has died, aged 86.
She was the daughter of Gertrude Mitchell, of the firm Mitchell, Cox and Williams, and she and her husband Geoffrey owned the Wells Road shop until 1978.
The couple also ran the Kettle Sings tea shop, Jubilee Drive, in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Mrs Lampard trained in social work, and was on a visit to the Jewish quarter of Vienna when the Nazi Anschluss of Austria took place. She was expelled from the country after an altercation with a German stormtrooper.
She was a leading member of the National Association of Women, and its president from 1972 to 1974, as well as being chairman of The Chase high school governors.
She had been living in Ely with her daughter Sally Treptke since January this year. She also had a son, Michael.
"My mother lived a very full and interesting life," said Mrs Treptke.
Mrs Lampard's funeral is in the lady chapel, Ely Cathedral, at 1pm on Tuesday.
