A NEW cafe has opened high up on the Malvern Hills.
The See View Cafe, at the Wyche Cutting, is the latest project of husband and wife Mike and Pam Gardner, and Pam's brother Stuart Wilson.
The trio are well-known in the area, having run the village shop, Provisions of Colwall, for the last seven years.
They are now hoping for a good response to their new venture, overlooking the Severn Vale, next to the Wyche Inn.
"My husband is doing the cooking, I'll be the waitress and Stuart will be doing the accounts, just as he does at the shop," said Pam. "It's more of a cafe or coffee shop than tea room."
As well as beverages, the cafe serves full English breakfasts, sandwiches, pizza, baked potatoes and main courses, among other things.
The business opened last Saturday (June 11).
"We'd hoped to open for the bank holiday weekend but the gas and the electricity weren't ready in time," explained Pam, who said they planned to attract walkers from the Malvern Hills, as well as local residents.
The trio are also planning to stock a few basic supplies such as newspapers, milk and bread, so the cafe will also act as a corner shop.
The business will be open every day from 10am to 5pm, except Mondays, although it will be open on Bank Holiday Mondays.
The cafe occupies a shop unit that has been vacant for several years.
