NEW measures to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in Malvern's Pickersleigh ward are being considered by the district council.
According to a new report, Together in Safety, the ward is the most deprived in the district.
Problems include teenage drinking, drug abuse, domestic violence, burglary and vandalism.
The report recommends a series of measures involving local voluntary groups, firms, churches and other bodies.
These include a crime prevention campaign aimed at specific offences and seasonal problems.
Junior and senior schools will be encouraged to set up "buddy schemes" and existing voluntary activities, such as playschemes, will be supported.
Local businesses will be enlisted to support job creation and training schemes.
Malvern's Neighbourhood Watch Association will be encouraged to set up new groups in the area. "Hot-spots" for anti-social behaviour in Moat Way and Elgar Avenue will also be targeted.
The council's executive board will be asked to adopt the report's recommendations at its meeting on Tuesday (June 22).
