BARNARDS Green Singles welcomed Chainwire for a Worcester League division five encounter on Saturday.
BARNARDS GREEN SINGLES v CHAINWIRE
Skipper Kevin Ratcliffe lost the toss again and the Green were asked to bat. Ratcliffe and Curtis put on 26 in the first three overs before Curtis was bowled by the accurate Meese
After ten overs, the rate was still at six per over with the departure of Beavan for 16 bowled by Meese. Ratcliffe and Metcalfe followed quickly to leave the Green 89-4.
Veteran Dick Brown and Matt Brookes steadied the innings before a loose shot saw him caught in the gully. Rich Brown looked in good touch before an unfortunate run out saw him depart. Dick Brown (43) saw the total to a below par 164 from 42 overs.
In reply, Chainwire lost James to a smart stumping by Glendinning for four and the introduction of Matt Brookes and Rich Brown saw them keep the run rate down and take two wickets apiece.
But with Davies (46no) playing a solid anchor role and some hard- hitting by T Paddock, the total was always within reach and they got home in the 42nd over with six overs to spare.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the Singles XI are away at Knighton-on-Teme.
