COLWALL U11s travelled to Malvern and Evesham last week and came away with two more victories.
Playing an 11-a-side match at Regency Road, Colwall bowled first against Malvern.
Despite some keen running by the home side, Colwall soon started to get on top. Stevie Wilson was the pick of the bowlers taking two wickets. He was well supported by Arthur Jones, Bar Bartlett and Christopher Harwood each capturing one wicket. Further wickets fell to run-outs thanks to some sharp fielding, Malvern finishing their innings on 49.
A steady start by the openers was followed by brief innings from Jack Lannie and George Oliver as Malvern took three quick wickets. Joe Cricard then came in to strike four quick boundaries and being well supported by Harwood, the pair saw Colwall to victory by seven wickets.
The following evening at Evesham, Colwall returned to the Bishop Trophy competition and again enjoyed early success with their bowling.
Cricard took the first wicket to fall and two more quickly fell to Harwood. Colwall then tightened their grip on the game with two wickets in two balls from Jones and a further wicket to Henry Coleman. Evesham then fought their way back with some sensible batting to finish on 237.
In reply, the openers Jones and Harwood were rarely in trouble. When Jack Cooney and Wilson came to the crease, boundaries started to flow with top scorer Cooney hitting four. Alex Parker and Coleman were then keen to add further runs, Coleman striking two big sixes. It was left to captain Cricard and Neil Green to seal the victory. Colwall finished on 288, winners by 51 runs.
