MALVERN Town started this Bank Holiday Monday Midland Alliance game with some purpose, kicking down the slope and a slight breeze behind them.
BRIDGNORTH TOWN 0, MALVERN TOWN 2
They pinned Bridgnorth back in their own half for long periods and were unlucky not to take the lead on numerous occasions as shots from Halion, Roberts, Morris and Duncan Preedy all flashed wide of the upright with the home keeper at full stretch.
Nathan Jukes came closest when his 25-yard drive hit the outside of the post and rebounded to safety.
On the stroke of half time a 30 yard pass from Darren Bullock fell into the path of Dean Roberts who fired Malvern into a well deserved lead with a well taken effort into the bottom left hand corner of the net.
Bridgenorth rarely troubled the Malvern defence and the second half started similar to the first, and on the 53rd minute mark a quick free kick by Jukes sent Scott Morris through to score when he drove a dipping shot past the keeper to put Malvern firmly in the driving seat.
Further chances from Bullock, Preedy and Jukes were the closest Malvern came to increasing their lead. Bridgnorth did raise their game in the last 10 minutes but never seriously tested Malvern keeper Dave Alden.
Fifth-placed Malvern Town are now one of only three unbeaten sides in the league.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Malvern Town are at home to Oldbury United, 3pm kick-off.
