Holidaymakers in Worcester are being told to keep safe this summer by cancelling their post when they take a break.
The warning comes as the holiday season rapidly approaches, when mail often piles up on doormats while people are away, which is a clear sign that the house is empty.
The Royal Mail has advised customers to use a Keepsafe service where the delivery service will hold people's mail until they return.
There is also a Business Keepsafe service available for business customers.
Royal Mail spokesperson, Mike Dalton, said: "Mail can be kept safely at the delivery office for a maximum of two months, following which, all post held will be delivered as normal."
The service can be ordered by completing an application form available from post offices or online at www.royalmail.com and can also be set up by telephone on 08457 777888.
It takes five working days for the service to be set up and after applying, customers receive a written acknowledgement of confirmation.
The names and signatures of people whose mail is to be held must be provided, with parents and guardians signing for those under 16.
Costs for the service are £5.35 per household to hold mail for 17 days, £8.55 for 24 days, £10.70 for 31 days and £16.05 for the maximum 66 days.
