HIGHER-graded Upton played down hill but into the teeth of a cold wind at the start of this friendly match.
UPTON 36pts, BROMYARD 6pts
Bromyard used the wind well early on and took the lead through a penalty when Upton were spotted going in at the side of a maul.
Then Upton came to life and Bromyard were brushed aside as forwards and backs combined to throw the ball around.
In the next 30 minutes, flanker Neil Caldwell scored two tries and Max Edwards out-paced the defence to run in from 30 metres.
There were no successful conversions from wide out but Bromyard did manage another penalty for 15-6 at half-time.
Upton picked up where they left off, only with the wind to help.
Rob Heeley kicked for the corners, pinning Bromyard back and Caldwell scored his hat-trick try after changing his line of attack with a shimmy of his left foot. Chris O'Neill took over kicking duties and added the conversion.
Upton's pack now turned play over to the backs and the fifth try was the pick of the bunch, Brad Raymond given a run-in by O'Neill, who then converted.
The sixth try, which was also converted, went to full-back Alex Pimlow under the posts.
Next week Upton have their last home league match for the season against promotion chasing Kings Norton, who stole the points with a last minute try at the start of the season.
