MALVERN United Angling Association have secured the fishing rights to an additional stretch of the River Severn.

The location is south of Upton-upon-Severn near Queenhill. The water was formerly rented by BAA but has not been maintained for some time, consequently there is a lot of hard work required to make the banks fishable, clearing weeds, digging pegs and putting in staging where neccessary.

The club is asking all members if they would like to come and help out with the work.

The stretch should be able to accomodate around 25 pegs when work is completed. There are a handful of pegs fishable already and initial 'dabblings' suggest that this could be a very prolific fishery with large bream, skimmers, roach and perch in evidence.

The club can now offer members four venues, two on the Severn, one on the Avon and the pool at Mathon. With an adult club membership at only £23 this offers great value for money.

Informal working parties are carrying out work on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings at the moment. If you would like to help out or give the stretch a try please phone club secretary Mick Perks on 01684 561777 for directions to the venue and news on bank clearing sessions.

Latest developments on the club can now also be viewed on a new website at www.muaa.co.uk.
