WORCESTER failed to take advantage of a good bowling display as they slipped to a seven-run defeat at Moseley Ashfield in the Birmingham league Division Three.

Having dismissed their hosts for 188 in 52.3 overs, Worcester were unable to capitalise.

Worcester got off to a dream start, taking a wicket with the first ball as Mwayenga had Hopkins caught by Gardiner.

At 12-2, Worcester looked to be taking full advantage, and Mwayenga (4-58) and McKay had the hosts struggling at 60-4.

The introduction of spinner James Wagstaff saw him take 5-49 from 18 overs to help skittle Moseley for 188.

Moseley soon had Worcester in trouble at 29-4 after losing Mason, Richardson, McKay and Gardiner.

Foster and Mwayenga started to turn the game Worcester's way with a partnership of 80, Foster scoring 54 before being given out lbw.

Mwayenga started to take control with help from Wagstaff, Weston and Fincher but, with the score at 160, Mwayenga was caught as Worcester fell short.

The Seconds lost at home to Bromsgrove by seven wickets.

Worcester started well with Chambers and Levy putting on a partnership of 58.

Bromsgrove's introduction of Walker started to swing the game the visitors' way as he claimed 5-47. Clarke also bowled well for 2-53.

Dan Cure scored 27 at the end of the innings to boost Worcester's score to 164.

Bromsgrove's reply was built around the innings of 59 by Rose.

He received assistance from Gibbin and Benson in making light work of the hosts' total, reaching 166-3 in just 41 overs.

Ashley Brown was Worcester's best bowler, recording figures of 2-34.
