MALVERN'S director of rugby David Robins was well pleased with his side's display at Old Laurentians on Saturday when the Spring Lane side won 7-26.
Robins said: "We had a game plan which the lads stuck to, which was crucial given the part the elements had to play in the afternoon's proceedings. We used the wind to our advantage and had the match sewn up by the break.
"All we had to do in the second half was contain and play a patient game out of defence. For me, Mark Eastwood was the man of the match, his game full of purpose and poise.
"We now look forward to our North Midlands Cup match against University College Worcester, which is a stern task, as they have just won their division to put themselves back in the top flight of student rugby. It will be almost like a home tie for them, as they use our facilities for their inter-varsity games."
Added piquancy is added to the tie as Andy Cushing, UCW's coaching chief, was Malvern's coach two seasons ago and several of his alumni, including Jamie Anderson, Nick Smith and Mark Eastwood will be turning out against his current crop of talent.
A large crowd is expected for the match, which will kick-off at the earlier time of 2pm.
