HOW hypocritical can you get? Many of the ultra-militants opposed to the European constitution and, indeed, all things European, are now ranting abuse because the referendum has been cancelled.
The decision was made long ago, to the effect that the European constitution had to be satisfied by all 25 member states in order to be activated.
If just one refused to ratify, that would be the end of it. Well, in fact, two countries have rejected the proposed constitution so that is the end of it. To hold a referendum in the UK now would be meaningless and a gross waste of time and money.
