IT'S clear now from President Chirac's ravings that he doesn't want the UK as members of the EU, but that he does want our money and is prepared to put up with us, if we agree to an increase in our contributions and to forfeit our rebate.
I would think Tony Blair is more likely to apologise over the Iraq war than Chirac is to re-negotiate the CAP. The current cost of our contribution to the EU from Mr/Mrs/Ms average, is around 4p in the pound.
If we take it that national average wage is around £349 per week, the average contribution per working person is £13-96p per week (£725-92 per year). If those deductions appeared on a wage slip, I think we may have a few more people willing to support withdrawal from the EU.
