MALVERN thirds played host to Pershore for their last fixture of the season.

MALVERN III 34PTS, PERSHORE II 5PTS

The team was bolstered by the inclusion of a couple of second team players and at the last minute Dave Green left the old players' dinner table to join in.

It was his vision that led to the first try when he chipped over an advancing defence for George Roberts to run through and drop onto the well-placed kick. Pershore came back strongly and worked a well-taken try of their own to level the scores at 5-5.

Gareth Davis then broke clear to slip the ball to Will Clee who raced home for 10-5.

The next two tries were courtesy of a Roberts' solo show, the young centre took passes inside his own half and demolished the defence. He converted one try and then substituted himself leaving the visitors trailing 22-5 at half-time.

Dave Green orchestrated matters and put the Pershore defence to a severe test. One of his chip-kicks over the defenders was caught by David Wynne who committed the full back and passed inside to Pete Sharpe, who gratefully accepted the try. A fine solo effort under the posts from Martin Tilley left an easy conversion for Will Clee giving a final score of 34-5.
