MALVERN Town's away Travel Factory Midland Football Alliance clash with Westfields on Christmas Day Bank Holiday Monday was postponed due to frozen ground conditions.
Town are due to return to league action on New Year Bank Holiday Monday (January 3) when they entertain Bridgnorth Town (3pm) at Langland Stadium.
Malvern were hoping to get their season back on track at Westfields following three successive defeats. Malvern were knocked out of the FA Vase in the third round when they entertained Skelmersdale FC at home.
Malvern fell behind in the second half but Town's Des Cox fired home the equaliser but two goals for the visitors in extra time sealed the Langland Stadium outfit's fate.
The following Tuesday saw a much-changed Town side crash out of the Worcestershire Senior Urn at home to a young and talented Castle Vale side.
Des Cox did give the Town a 1-0 lead but the home side fell away and had Chris Jones dismissed for a second bookable offence as Vale ran out 4-1 winners.
Fourth-placed Town were then leapfrogged by Leicestershire side Quorn who won the Travel Factory Midland Alliance fixture at Langland Stadium 3-0.
Malvern were looking forward to the Westfields fixture as it promised to be a cracker of a game. Town have the second best away record in the league and Westfields have only lost one of their 11 starts at home this season.
Three points should come Town's way on Monday against Bridgnorth, who are propping up the table and have only won three times from 23 starts, including just one away win.
Town Reserves are also in action on Monday when they travel to Blackheath Town (2.45) in division one of the West Midlands League.
Mid-table Town will have their work cut out at Blackheath who are fourth in the table and have had just three defeats in 17 matches.
Next Saturday (January 8) Malvern Town travel to Stratford Town (3.00), who were tipped to be title challengers at the start of the season but have not fulfilled their promise. Malvern defeated them 2-1 at home earlier in the season.
