CHILDREN have a new champion caring for their welfare.
The new Worcestershire Safeguarding Children Board will take over the work of the Area Child Protection Committee, whose role is to protect children from harm and safeguard their well-being.
The board, whose first meeting was in April, brings together Worcestershire County Council, the police, health and probation services and district councils.
Anne Binney, head of children's services at Worcestershire County Council and WSBC chairwoman, said: "I'm delighted with the response of the agencies involved in the board since its creation. There is a genuine commitment to improving the lives of children in our county."
