TV celebrity and pop star Toyah Wilcox asks (Talkback, Friday, June 10): "Did World Environment Day last Sunday slip by you unnoticed?"
I am much more concerned that the date June 6, 1944 also seems to have slipped by "unnoticed".
Apart from parades and the laying of wreaths by those who wore a uniform, or were involved at that date, plus a few inches in the Press, I saw little evidence that anyone is now really concerned that we then left 1,842 British dead and 3,131 'missing' in Normandy.
If the losses in 1944 really are a 'non event', what chance do the 88 British who have so far died in Iraq being remembered even 10 years from now?
